Previously F5. If you arrived here searching for the F5 pass rate, this is the right paper. ACCA renamed its exams in 2018 and F5 Performance Management became PM. Older revision notes discussing F5's difficulty are describing the same exam.

ACCA reports pass rates for session-based papers at all four sittings, so PM has a figure for March, June, September and December each year.

Why PM's pass rate looks like this

PM is the hardest Applied Skills paper by pass rate, and this is a structural pattern rather than a run of difficult sittings. Looking back through ACCA's published historical figures, PM has rarely cleared 45% at any sitting since 2019.

The difficulty is not the calculations themselves. It is that Section C requires you to interpret a scenario, choose the right technique, apply it accurately and then explain what the answer means for the business. Candidates who can perform every calculation in isolation still lose marks on the discursive requirements.

PM is a session-based exam, so ACCA reports its pass rate at all four sittings.

How PM compares

PM sits about 7 points below FM and 6 below AA, and roughly 41 below LW. If you are planning a sitting with two papers, pairing PM with a higher-passing paper is the more common approach.
