Previously F8. If you arrived here searching for the F8 pass rate, this is the right paper. ACCA renamed its exams in 2018 and F8 Audit and Assurance became AA.

ACCA reports pass rates for session-based papers at all four sittings, so AA has a figure for March, June, September and December each year.

Why AA's pass rate looks like this

AA sits alongside PM as one of the two consistently difficult Applied Skills papers. The pattern is long-standing rather than recent, and it holds across sittings.

The reason is that AA is almost entirely discursive. There is very little to calculate, so marks come from generating enough distinct, relevant points and expressing them precisely. Candidates who know the material well still lose marks by writing one developed point where the requirement wanted four separate ones, or by describing a risk without saying what the auditor should do about it.

AA is a session-based exam, so ACCA reports its pass rate at all four sittings.

How AA compares

AA runs about 6 points above PM and 8 below TX. Students moving from calculation-led papers often find AA harder than the pass rate alone suggests, because the skill it tests is different rather than more advanced.
